Climb every mountain, forge every stream

This will probably not mean much to most of you.

But.

I CLIMBED!!!!!!

My pathetic sack of a body did some exercise it actually enjoyed for the first time in over a year. My poor flaccid weak little matchstick arms nearly fell off and my sliced open shoulder moaned a bit and it was not a graceful ascent like a rock dancer, more like the flight of the bumble gecko. But still. Climbing was the light of my life a few years ago. It just makes me so very happy. I am not sure if I will be able to keep doing it, if my back will hold out, but right now I am elated.

My hands are red, ripped and sore, my feet squished from the ridiculous shoes and my forearms are  filled with jelly. What a good feeling.

And my harness was mysteriously tight. Weird huh, maybe it shrunk in the wash? Only, you don't wash harnesses. Must have been the cold that made it shrink then...

Chocolate digestives as a staple diet have nothing to do with it ok?

You need to balance some of the masochism found in jelly arm sand red raw hands by eating more chocolate digestives!

... Weird... I'm sure I wrote: in jelly arms and red, raw hands... ;-)

Good for you!!! Although I'm scared of heights, so climbing freaks me out, but I know that wonderful feeling.

Well done!

Now I have the Sound of Music soundtrack in my head...

...follow every rainbow... till you find your dreeeeeeeeam! (those are the words, right? I'm a bit paranoid after my misheard lyrics post)

Your idle catter of stream forgage invokes Julie Andrews and for that may you be forever cursed by the hand of the Almighty Kwan, Lord of Darkness.

Well done on the climb thing though.

Awesome man, I have a few climbing addict buddies so can see why this is such a big deal.

Hope you'll slowly start easing your way back into it - nothing like having a passion in life.

midnite gem: the cederberg is my bf's favourite place too! I wonder if they know each other... We were there in April.

Rox: thanks! I shouldn't get too excited because my body is far from well, but there is hope

LOL, probably knowing cape town and the small climbing community there. most of the climbers there all know each other through someone. And shot in the dark here but if you bf had anything to do with scouts then there is even more of a possiblity they know each other. I say this cause the cederberg seems to be where the heart of alot of scouts is.

midnitegem: yesyes he did scouts!

But he is quite a bit older than me. but you never know...

hmmm...funny stuff. well how much older? My bf just turned 30...it is still a small circle no matter the age.

It also turned out that he mentored an ex of mine at scouts when the ex was a teenager...i've never seen an ex be so happy and so in awe of a current bf!
