Somewhere inbetween.

I have this urgent feeling of needing to blog about something, but I can't quite find what it is. So I am writing this half-assed post in the hope that I find it.

Things are quiet at the moment. Quiet is very good. Not quiet in the sense of builders not drilling in my ear every single day (until December, preserve my fragile soul. I think they are drilling a causeway to Australia right there in our cold room. That is my only explanation for how it can go on day after day), but quiet on the life falling on my head front.

I scanned the jobs in Cape Town the other day. I do this sometimes when it starts to get cold and dark here. I look for jobs for the BFG, not for me, because I don't mind too much what I do, but he has an awesome job, and it would take something awesome to get him to leave it. No such luck. In fact, as a friend pointed out, the only way we could find that kind of work in Cape Town is if we took it there ourselves. I don't know if this is true but I suspect it is and that is pretty depressing cos both the BFG and I are little lemming-sheep. We are no entrepeneurs. We need to work for someone. Sad but true.

But my heart will not let me give up just yet. Countries that have the right kind of work include Korea, the US, India, Japan and obviously here. There are options out there in the world if you know where to look. So why do I keep looking in Cape Town? I'm like the girl who couldn't let go.

I am planning my holiday to South Africa for January. I can't wait. It will be hothothot. I want to drive across the country and stop at places like Bethlehem and count the PEP stores along the way. Amongst other things of course.

Yip, I am the girl who couldn't let go. Should I be ashamed of this?

Not ashamed but proud of who you are and where you come from!

I'm always popping into pep. In fact I always start my shoe shopping there! Cape Town is beautiful. Always obey your instincts!

Definitely nothing to be ashamed of at all! This will always be your homeland, even it it's not always your home, so I think the pull to return here is natural.

I think that wanting to count Pep stores is something to be ashamed of.

You're coming to SA?! YAY! Any chance you'll be in Jozi at all?

Ladyfi: aw thank you! But what I mean is that people seem to say that not being able to let go of things is bad, cos you are not able to live or something. I don't know. But I am alive. So its all ok :)

Ches: well am coming for a visit anyway!

momcat: obey your thirst! hehe. Pep is the bomb :)

qcc: thanks. I figure it could be quite annoying and a bit pathetic to other people though. I don't talk about it at all in my real life so I spout all my thoughts here instead. Abusing the blogging community.

6000: no shame there! It was our thing on climbing trips, almost every town even if it only had two houses, seemed to have a liquor store and a Pep. We would always play spot the Pep.

Spear almighty: hectic. I think you and I are quite similar in that way. The thought of owning a coffee shop in SA has crossed my mind many a time. Only one problem, I could not be the boss of anybody.

Tamara: Ahhhh good question! The only thing I normally ever see of Jozi is the airport on the way in and out! But I would love to meet Jozi bloggers! I have no other reason to go to Jozi though, no family or friends, and it is like a foreign place to me. Where would we stay??? Where are the hotels??? Will have to think about the logistics of this.

Gillian: hehe sounds good :)

I hope you enjoy holiday in Jan.

you are coming just before the world cup...

all you will see are unfinished building sites and construction workers on strike.

If your dates are not set in stone try come after the 2010 hubbub. It's maily the big cites that are affected though. if you are going to Bethlehem and...Pofadder you'll be fine.

Sonnyvsdan: I like the way you think! He does computer simulations of car/train/bus plane driveability, including F1!

Godfrey: thank you! I have to admit I am looking forward to it SO much.

EEbEE: hmmmm, have never been to Pofadder. One crucial question though, does it have a Pep? If yes then I'm sold.

Follow your instincts little lemming.. CapeTown is apparently very pretty.

There are things we should let go of... remembering where you are from or loving those quirky things about SA is not one of them! Holidays, even if they are coming "home" are fun! Those funky towns are just so SA i love doing the same thing!

BecauseIcan: Dirtbin is my first stop! Bunnychow here I come! Maybe I should have a sunrise chip n cheese for old time's sake, but then again, maybe not.

Sarah: if an opportunity arose in Japan I would seriously consider it, based mostly on the tales from your blog!

mylifescape: thank you my dear. I will never let go of those things. ever.
