Stuff

  • There is a man at my work who looks like Mr Burns. A carbon copy. For true. It is unnerving. I would post a picture but it seems inappropriate.
  • Last Friday I bought three books on a three for two special, hoping to have something to read in Spain. By Wednesday I had finished them. Bugger. So yesterday I went and bought three more. That is thirty quid I have spent on books in the last week. I seem to have been taken over by some kind of reading fever.
  • I attended a seminar yesterday which amused me greatly. Sadly if you never studied Biology in any form, this will not amuse you at all. The guy played us a short movie of his work accompanied by a song entitled "Sweet home apparatus". It was an ode to the Golgi apparatus. The words go something like this:

On the endomembrane system inside of a cell,
There's a groovy little organelle.
It isn't a place you can find in an atlas,
That's right, you guessed it: the golgi apparatus.

It's the golgi apparatus,
Yes the golgi apparatus
Don't care who's starin' at us
In the golgi apparatus.

  • And it only gets better after that.
  • Yes, I am a nerd of the highest order.
  • Here is a picture of the Golgi apparatus, in case you were burning to know.

  • RAD, is it not?
  • I am going on holiday and it will be 30 degrees, sweeet! I need to thtart practithing my lithping and my grathiathes and thtuff.

Adios amigos.

Golgi apparatus. Second only in the league of brilliant organelles to the endoplasmic reticulum brothers.

Enjoy your holiday Po. You can leave the gogli apparatus at home.

Sleepyjane: thanks!

midnite gem: does it? Goodie, I left all the organising up to the BFG, I trust in him... I think.

6000: I rate the Golgi over the ER any day.

Ches: but no. You can never be without your Golgi!

Spain and climbing!! how fun!! I'm excited for you!

I actually loved taking biology class. Or was it the cute boy in the biology class that I was more into? LOL I don't know! :)

You bought 3 books on Friday and you've finished them all by Wednesday?! Gees...you read real fast! Heheh...

And gosh...I haven't heard of the Golgi Apparatus since I left school! Very cool lyrics....

midnite gem: gosh, well I am not sure I am up to much, so I hope there are some easier climbs. Also, I hope they bolt better than they do at English crags. I am a spoilt South African, used to good bolting and the bolting at Portland is well, dubious.

Miss caught up: well, I went to an all girls school so there was definitely not such an attraction for me!

Dora: I kind of vacuum books up, but I am not sure how much I take in, I think if you asked me about the books I wouldn't know many details.

THE GOLGI APPARATUS! No friggin' way. Okay I'm lying I know nothing about the Golgi apparatus I gave up on Biology in grade 9 (std 7) when my teacher made me fail by forcing me to sleep during her class with her monotone. And I got detention for it.

I'm so jealous you have someone like Mr Burns in your office. Is he the boss? Does he have an assistant... like... old what's his name? Darnit. Anyway. that's so cool.

Is Spain the place where there is bull fighting? if so I am insanely jealous. If not; then I'm moderately jealous that you get to their archetecture. Other than that have a lot of fun in Spain! Hope it rocks the gazillions!

LOL - I remember the golgi apparatus from high school biology! I'm sure we had to draw it...

And we SO have somebody at work who looks like Mr Burns too!! Maybe it's some sort of health & safety requirement - every office must have one...

Dude. I could've sworn I left a comment here. Just as yours came into my blog actually.

Something about how cute that song was. And also how nerdy you are.
